Terms of Service

LumenBoard is a virtual tutoring classroom: live video, a shared whiteboard, chat, session recording, and — where a student or parent turns it on — AI-generated lesson notes and a study chatbot. It is built for independent tutors and tutoring centers, not for full classrooms or school districts.

• Tutors and organization owners must be at least 18 years old.
• A student under 18 needs a parent or guardian’s email on file; a student under 13 needs a parent’s verified consent before we create their account at all (see our Privacy Policy for how that works).
• We never ask a tutor for a student’s email address. A student joins by signing up themselves or by following a room link a tutor shares.
• You’re responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential.

Paid plans are billed through Stripe, our payment processor. LumenBoard never stores your full card number — Stripe handles that. By subscribing you authorize us (via Stripe) to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

• Monthly plans cancel at the end of the current billing period; you keep access through the period you’ve already paid for.
• Annual plans are billed once a year at a discount; canceling stops the next renewal but doesn’t refund the current term.
• The free plan (2 active rooms, capped weekly class time, no recording or AI features) has no time limit but is intentionally limited — see Pricing for current details.
• A no-card trial of Tutor Prois offered to new tutor accounts; if you don’t subscribe before it ends, your account drops to the free plan and any recordings are deleted after a warning (see Privacy Policy, Data retention).
• Organization plans license a fixed number of educator seats; adding an educator beyond your plan’s seat count requires upgrading first.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for anything illegal, harassing, or abusive.
• Record a session or share a recording without the other participants’ knowledge, beyond LumenBoard’s own automatic, disclosed recording.
• Attempt to access another user’s account, room, or recordings without authorization.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the Service.
• Share a room link publicly in a way that lets strangers join a private lesson.

You retain ownership of the whiteboard content, chat messages, and recordings created in your rooms. You grant us a license to store, transmit, and process that content solely to operate the Service (including, where enabled, sending it to our AI subprocessors to generate lesson notes). We do not use your lesson content to train AI models.

You may stop using LumenBoard and delete your account at any time from Account settings. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, engages in abuse, or where required by law. On deletion, we remove your account and content per our Privacy Policy.

The Service is provided “as is.” We don’t guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we’re not responsible for the quality of tutoring provided by independent tutors using the platform — that relationship is between the tutor and the student/parent. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

We may update these Terms as the product changes. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify account holders by email.
